Loango National Park, often called Africa’s Last Eden, is one of the only places on earth where rainforest runs directly into Atlantic beach. Western lowland gorillas and forest elephants move through the same coastal forest that hippos occasionally wander onto the sand from, a combination that exists almost nowhere else.
Gabon’s tourism numbers remain low relative to its wildlife density, which means trekking here tends to feel unhurried and genuinely wild. Access requires more planning than East Africa, typically a charter flight from Libreville, but the payoff is a landscape most travellers never expect from a primate safari.
