Dzanga-Sangha Protected Areas sit deep in the Congo Basin rainforest, where natural forest clearings called bais draw western lowland gorillas, forest elephants and forest buffalo into open view at the same watering points, a rare chance to watch gorillas outside dense forest cover.
This is one of the least-visited primate destinations we offer, which means genuinely quiet trekking, but it also means longer travel times and simpler on-the-ground infrastructure. We recommend it for travellers who have already done a more conventional gorilla trek and want something further off the usual route.
